Definition #
The third of the operator’s job that runs the business underneath the shift — the back-office half: financials, scheduling, vendor management, and capital decisions. Reads the lagging indicators on the P&L and sets the next period’s plan.
Family #
Canon. Locked lexicon term. Child of the three-thirds framework alongside [The Production] and [The Read].
Why Behind the Thinking #
Admin is where lagging indicators live — the report card on decisions already made upstream. Revenue-management disciplines (pricing, capacity, channel mix, daypart yield, demand forecasting) are legitimate operator levers only when correctly placed in Admin: they report upward to [The Read] and report downward to [The Production] only as instrumentation confirming what the stage already told the operator. The failure mode is not the discipline — it is displacement, when Admin-tier instrumentation migrates forward and starts running The Production from the front ([perspective_recompiled_07.08.2026.txt], [master_ip_compiled.txt]). Verb: own.
